Our mixed herd of Nubian, Alpine and Lamancha goats have access to the outside year round. Grasses, leaves and fresh air help to produce a milk which is clean and sweet tasting.
Our goats produce milk for ten months of the year, from February through late November. Due to this natural lactation cycle, we are a seasonal dairy. Lucky for us we have the wonderful milk from nearby Burnell Pond Farm to supplement our supply in the winter months while we fill holiday orders. We are up and milking again when the goats "freshen" (give birth) during the chilly weeks of late January. We value this cycle as an opportunity for rest and reflection, for both people and animals.
Milking the goats is done in a parlor, where ten goats come up at a time. We milk on average 75 goats, producing over 110,000 pounds of milk a year.
